Tyro Rural Fire Department was organized in 1953 and incorporated on April 13, 1954. A 1954 Chevrolet cab and chassis was built and purchased to the department's standards by the late Jake Beck. This was the first Apparatus of Tyro Rural Fire Department. This apparatus has since been restored. Operations were conducted out of a service station owned by Ed Miller and Coy Michael. Land was obtained from Ed Miller to build Tyro's first fire station, which was built in 1956 and was located on jeff ave. The new station and present station was built in March of 1992 on S NC HWY 150.      

The first Fire Chief was C.W. Long. Others that have served as Chief are Sammy Leonard, Grady Weaver, Buck Snellings, Darrell Kimbrell, Ronnie Weaver, Todd Snider, Barry Shoaf and the present Fire Chief is Tim Spivey.        



 Tyro Rural Fire Department's mission is to provide a multitude of services to include life safety, fire protection, property conservation, hazmat, rescue services, and public education to the members of the Tyro community of Davidson County, NC

Party Room
Tyro Fire Department offers a Party Room for Rent with Kitchen and appliances. Rental fee is $100.00 with a $100.00 Security Deposit. Rental agreement can be obtained from Tyro Fire Department Mon-Fri 8.AM-5.PM


Board/Business Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 7:00 PM

The Annual Meeting is held on the last Tuesday of April (April 28, 2020) at 7:00 PM
