STATION 67

Home Page

Tyro Rural Fire Department was organized in 1953 and incorporated on April 13, 1954. A 1954 Chevrolet cab and chassis was built and purchased to the department's standards by the late Jake Beck. This was the first truck of Tyro Rural Fire Department. This truck is presently being restored. Operations were conducted out of a service station owned by Ed Miller and Coy Michael. Land was obtained from Ed Miller to build Tyro's first fire station, which was built in 1956. The new station and present station was built in March of 1992.
The first Fire Cheif was C.W. Long. Others that have served as Chief are Sammy Leonard, Grady Weaver, Buck Snellings, Darrell Kimbrell, Ronnie Weaver, Todd Snider, and the present Fire Chief is Barry Shoaf.
